Want to save on your membership, while getting involved?
By volunteering for a minimum of three x 2.5-hour sessions (or 6 half shifts) a year, you’ll receive a significant discount.
Not a member? No problem! We welcome everyone.

What would I be doing?
You’ll receive support and training to use our simple online system, help members borrow and return toys, check that incoming toys are clean and complete, and keep our shelves organised. You’ll be paired with someone who has volunteered before, so don’t worry — you won’t be on your own!
You'll also help us set up and pack down the library. (Yes, we have to do this for each session!).
You’re welcome to bring your kids when you volunteer. The South Hobart Community Centre is within a fenced playground, and we love having little helpers around!

Keeping our children safe
Everyone who volunteers at borrowing sessions will need to:

Apply for a Working with Vulnerable People (RWVP) registration (RWVP) registration

List Hobart Toy Library as your volunteer organisation RWVP.

Registrations are free for volunteers in Tasmania, but can take a few weeks to process.

Complete either:

The Australia Human Rights Commission's Introduction to Child Safety Module

You only need to complete the introduction module (approx. 20 minutes).

OR The DECYP Safeguarding Children Course

Or the Department of Health Fundamentals of Safeguarding Children and Young People
